About this role
Team Overview
The mission of the Finance Platform Strategies (FPS) team is to ensure optimized operating models within Finance, consistent across our global functional teams as appropriate. To promote this objective, we connect key Finance resources with relevant functional specialists from across BlackRock, identify and document business requirements and manage the implementation and subsequent maintenance of platforms and processes designed to address those requirements. FPS team members serve as internal change management consultants who apply knowledge of BlackRock’s resources - people, processes, and technology - to ensure concepts become reality in support of both new business initiatives and ongoing business process enhancement.
Responsibilities of the Candidate:
Provide day-to-day user support for our IBM Planning Analytics (formerly known as TM1) application
Execute weekly, month-end, and quarter-end data processing to support actuals and forecast/budget close processes across financial platforms, including Oracle, Hierarchy Manager, Planning Analytics
Develop and enhance the existing codebase in the IBM Planning Analytics tool to support various financial planning and forecasting models
Write code for the ingestion of data, metadata, and various business calculations for financial reporting and forecasting models
Contribute to the buildout, testing, code migration and maintenance of the IBM Planning Analytics, Financial Management Platform at BlackRock
Test system functionality as new versions are released, before involving end users in acceptance testing
Collaborate with various functions within the Global BlackRock Finance department to understand business use cases for Planning Analytics development and other automation solution
Deliver regular project communications, status reports, and critical issues concisely and directly to keep key partners informed
Create, maintain, and update clear and detailed documentation for models, processes, and workflows. Ensure that all documentation is accurate, organized, and accessible to relevant team members for easy reference and knowledge sharing
Proactively seek opportunities to optimize current business processes within Finance globally
Skills Requirements:
We seek a candidate with at least 1-3 years of relevant experience and a technical background in software development who is eager to pursue a career in financial modeling using IBM Planning Analytics/TM1
Knowledge of finance and financial modelling is preferred
Exposure to programming languages (such as Visual Basic, Python, R, C++, or Java/ETL coding) and an understanding of relational database concepts (including SQL) and OLAP technology is beneficial
Understanding of Financial planning and forecasting process preferred
Cognos TM1 / Planning Analytics development skills preferred
Experience as a developer or power user with one or more of the following reporting/analytical tools is preferred: Cognos Analytics, Power BI, Tableau, Oracle Analytics
Familiarity with other enterprise planning and performance management tools like Oracle EPM, Anaplan, Pigment, etc., is a plus
Background in IT, Finance, or similar fields are preferred. Knowledge of financial instruments and markets is beneficial
Experience working in the Asset Management industry or similar financial services environments is preferred
