BlackRock’s Aladdin® is an operating system for investment managers that seeks to connect the information, people, and technology needed to manage money in real time. The Aladdin platform combines risk analytics with portfolio management, trading, compliance, investment operations, and accounting tools on a single platform to power informed decision-making, effective risk management, efficient trading, and operational scale. Aladdin is used by a community of over 200 institutional clients around the world, including BlackRock. There are over 50,000 end users of Aladdin globally. The Aladdin Business is comprised of 800+ professionals responsible for implementing and supporting our Aladdin clients, sales and marketing, and ensuring the Aladdin Community fully utilizes Aladdin products through engagement and education.
PURPOSE AND SCOPE
We are seeking a candidate to work within the Aladdin Client Business Group’s Accounting Practice supporting the implementation of Aladdin’s Performance & Official Accounting capabilities. The individual will work closely with our partner implementation teams and the client acting as a subject matter expert and primary point of contact, providing guidance on best practices and supporting a smooth implementation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key responsibilities of the role include:

Working with clients with a focus on building relationships with our client’s senior leaders (e.g., Chief Financial Officer, Controller, Lead Accountants), defining future state business processes, analyzing data sets within Aladdin and client legacy systems, implementing workflows and controls ensuring accuracy.

Delivering BlackRock’s Official Accounting & Performance capabilities to clients by leading business process reviews, accounting configuration, portfolio initialization, downstream general ledger integration, and monthly accounting workflow implementation

Developing project plans with measurable goals, driving consensus internal and client stakeholders to work towards common objectives for implementing investment accounting

Developing and applying deep accounting domain expertise to evaluate requirements and configuring solutions to meet a wide range of investment accounting and reporting needs through business process review sessions. Identifying and implementing methodology improvements to drive scale across projects

Shaping the evolution of our implementation methodology by developing a deep understanding of client/industry needs and partnering with development teams to enhance the platform

Travel required, including international opportunities
QUALIFICATIONS

4+ years of work experience in the financial services industry.
-
Knowledge of investment accounting, financial reporting, and application of accounting policy.
-
Experience building OMS / Accounting products and/or successful track record in technology implementations of investment software

Structured problem-solving skills to identify and resolve client issues and gaps. Conduct detailed analyses that lead to strategic insights and enable accelerated progress towards the outcome.

Leadership & organizational management skills to drive strategic large-scale accounting system and business transformations

Client focused, proficiency working within a collaborative team, and be passionate about providing a high quality of service to the client
-
Effective communication & presentation skills, with an ability to convey sophisticated concepts simply and clearly to clients driving commitment, team motivation, and adoption of new perspectives or action.

Knowledge/experience in UK GAAP, IFRS, French GAAP, AUS GAAP and/or Statutory accounting for investments
Nice to have:

ACCA, CPA, CFA, MBA preferred

SQL, Python, VBA, and command-line programming experience a plus

Project management experience (e.g., PMP) a plus

Proficiency in French a bonus
