The Multi-Asset Strategies & Solutions (MASS) team is the investment group at the heart of BlackRock's portfolio construction, asset allocation, and active management ecosystem. MASS draws on the full toolkit of BlackRock’s index, factor, and alpha-seeking investment capabilities to deliver precise investment outcomes and innovative alpha insights. MASS constructs active asset allocation strategies and whole portfolio solutions across a wide spectrum of commingled funds, separate accounts, model portfolios, and outsourcing solutions in the wealth and institutional channels. Currently, MASS handles over $1 trillion in assets and has a strong presence in San Francisco, New York, London, Asia Pacific region, and a growing team in Budapest.

Role Overview

The MASS portfolio management team is seeking a high-energy, motivated individual with proven technical background to drive development of our Python-based investment platform. At the intersection of technology and asset management, the systems and platform you build will drive investment results across thousands of clients in our Model Portfolios business, one of the most significant evolutions in the Wealth Management industry over the last decade and a growth driver within MASS and BlackRock.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with BlackRock’s wider tech platform and Aladdin engineering teams to integrate new developments and data via APIs and SQL queries

• Collaborate with portfolio managers to translate investment workflows into scalable technology solutions to mitigate risk and improve efficiency

• Maintain and evolve existing applications including deployment, documentation, testing, and coding standards

• Build processes to solve investment challenges and integrate them with existing BlackRock infrastructure (i.e. Aladdin)

Key Qualifications

• Desire to drive innovative investing solutions and to challenge the status quo

• Strong design patterns knowledge and implementation experience using one or more objected-oriented languages (e.g. Python, Java, C/C++)

• Solid knowledge on web development and strong exposure to front-end frameworks such as Angular (preferred) or React.

• Familiarity with git

• Knowledge of relational databases

• BS in computer science or similar

Desirable Qualifications

• Understanding of financial market and portfolio management concepts

• Experience with Python packages/frameworks (Pandas, Django, Flask)

• Experience building financial applications

• 3-5 years of relevant work experience

For California only the salary range for this position is $118,750 – $140,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.

Our hybrid work model

Employees are currently required to work at least 4 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 1 day a week.
