General recruiting process
Online Application & Pre-Interview Assessment
Enter basic details and upload your resume. You’ll receive a link from HireVue to complete a short video recording (a pre-interview assessment). This must be completed within five calendar days; applications will not be considered if the pre-interview assessment is not completed within the deadline.
Interviews
Participate in virtual interviews with representatives of the function(s) of interest. These conversations will be focused on the BlackRock Principles and may include a group exercise, presentation or case study.
Software engineering process
Online Application & Coding Challenge
Enter basic details and upload your resume. You’ll receive a link from CodeVue asking you to complete a short coding challenge. This must be completed within five calendar days; applications will not be considered if the coding challenge is not completed within the deadline.
Interviews
Participate in virtual interviews with BlackRock representatives from the software engineering team. These conversations will be focused on the BlackRock Principles and will also include a live coding exercise.

- Application process
- When do applications open and when are they due?
Applications open in early April. Applications will be reviewed and interviews will take place on a rolling basis starting in May. We recommend you apply as soon as possible to be considered. For information on specific program application dates, please refer to the program description(s).
- How many applications can I submit?
You can apply to one program (Full-Time Analyst Program, Summer Internship Program, MBA Internship Program or Quantitative Master's Program) and up to two functions. For example: For the Summer Internship Program, you can apply to the Private Markets function within the Investments business area and an Internal Audit function within the Corporate Functions business area.
- Can I apply to multiple regions?
You can only apply to one region (Americas, Europe or Asia-Pacific). However, on your application, you can note your interest in an alternative location.
- Do you offer opportunities for graduate school students?
We offer a few programs for graduate school students based on when you will be graduating and your experience. If you are in a graduate school program immediately following undergraduate studies, please consider applying for our Full-Time Analyst Program. We offer the MBA Internship Program for MBA students with a few years of professional experience in their penultimate year of study. We offer the Quantitative Master's Program for students enrolled in a quantitative-disciplined curriculum in their penultimate year of study. For more details, refer to the program descriptions above.
- Do you provide visa sponsorships?
BlackRock does not provide visa sponsorship.
- When do applications open and when are they due?
- Pre-interview assessment and coding test
- What is the pre-interview assessment?
The pre-interview assessment is a short video recording that you must submit as part of the application process. You will receive a link to complete your pre-interview assessment after you submit your online application. After a question is posed, you'll have three minutes to prepare and up to 90 seconds to record your answer. The entire process takes less than 10 minutes. You must complete the pre-interview assessment in a single sitting within five days of submitting your online application.
- What is the coding test? (Software Engineering applicants only)
The coding challenge is an online assessment that you must complete as part of the application process for our Software Engineering team. It contains coding questions followed by one video question. You can compete the coding questions over the course of five calendar days, and it should take about 60 minutes to complete. The video question must be completed in one sitting.
- How can I complete the pre-interview assessment or coding test?
Immediately after you submit your online application, you’ll receive an email with a link to complete this step. You can also access the pre-interview assessment or coding test directly from your application portal.
- If I apply to more than one function, will I be required to complete a pre-interview assessment for both opportunities?
Yes, you’ll be required to complete a pre-interview assessment for each function you applied to.
- Can I retake the pre-interview assessment or coding test once I have submitted it?
No. Unfortunately, you cannot retake the pre-interview assessment or coding test once submitted.
- If I don’t complete the pre-interview assessment or coding test within the deadline, will BlackRock still consider my application?
Your application is considered incomplete if you don’t submit your pre-interview assessment or coding test within the deadline, and your application will automatically be rejected.
- If I don’t complete my pre-interview assessment within the deadline, can I withdraw my application and submit another?
No, if you don’t complete your pre-interview assessment or coding test within the deadline, you can’t reapply.
- I’m having technical issues with my pre-interview assessment or coding test. Who should I contact?
Please reach out to support@hirevue.com or call 1-800-655-4106 with any technical difficulties. They will be able to assist you.
- I never received the link to complete my pre-interview assessment or coding test. How do I proceed?
You can complete your pre-interview assessment via your application portal. Please log into your application portal and click the link that says, “Start Assessment.” That will take you to the platform where you can complete your pre-interview assessment or coding test.

Unfortunately, BlackRock is unable to provide feedback on your application.
- If I withdraw one of my applications, can I reapply or submit a new one?
No, you will not be able to submit a new application if you withdraw your original application. A withdrawn application still counts towards your application limit. Candidates are eligible to submit up to three applications each year. All applications must be submitted at the same time, within the same program (e.g., Summer Internship Program, Full-Time Analyst Program, etc.) and within the same region (Americas, Europe or Asia-Pacific).
- Can I reapply next year if my application has been rejected this year?
Yes, you can reapply next year as long as you still meet the criteria for the program.

This program starts at the beginning of August, with a two-week orientation. After orientation, Analysts join their team and receive business-specific training and professional development throughout the duration of the program.

- What is the recruiting timeline?
We begin reviewing applications in May for the Summer Internship and Analyst Program. Interviews will take place on a rolling basis starting in May. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible to be considered. Applications for the Quantitative Masters Internship and MBA Internship will be reviewed in the fall.
