ROBERT RONNEBERGER: My name is Robert Ronneberger. Originally, I’m from Germany, but now living in Hong Kong working associate with the Global Corporate Strategy Team here at BlackRock. Corporate Strategy is a team that sits very closely to senior management. We’re helping senior management to identify growth opportunities for the firm in the APAC region. It’s a very diverse set of countries, which all speak different languages that are all different stages in terms of development, but also regulatory environments.
For us, it’s really important to see where should the firm grow and what should be the areas that we should focus on. So this could be as simple as considering a new market that we want to enter, doing the analysis. Is it worth entering? If it’s worth entering, how should we enter it? Should it be organic? Or should it be inorganic by acquiring a company?
Corporate strategy gives you a great overview of every single business of every single function to see what does really interest you. And then after, you can basically move or transition to that team within BlackRock.
I think [INAUDIBLE] is really exciting. One of the reasons is I think my background as an entrepreneur really feeds into it. Identifying challenges, problems, gaps that we have in our existing business, and you’re trying to fix them. I really love it. It’s the best job in terms of what I want to achieve and where I feel I can excel. BlackRock gives you the opportunity to do something that you might align with your personal interests.
