About this role
Summary:
We are seeking a self-motivated entry-level Compliance professional to serve as a member of the Americas Advisory Compliance team within BlackRock’s Legal & Compliance Department. This person will primarily support the Information Barriers Compliance Program which partners with BlackRock’s investment and corporate functions to manage the receipt of material non-public information (MNPI) typically received as part of investment due diligence. The ideal candidate will be interested in a long-term Compliance career focused on the application and impact of global regulations on investment activities. Key traits include superior attention to detail, eagerness to learn from colleagues and independent research, comfort with unstructured problem solving, and general interest in the financial services industry.
Daily activities may include responding to business inquiries about topics such as MNPI, assisting with compliance risk mitigation, and monitoring. The individual will also assist with and provide compliance support and analysis for business, firm-wide and Legal and Compliance initiatives that may require coordination with colleagues across the Americas, EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), and Asia-Pacific regions. This person should feel comfortable working with teams and engaging across functional areas and different seniorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a point of contact for business inquiries such as those related to material non-public information (MNPI) restrictions
- Assist with drafting and/or implementing policies, procedures, and processes to help ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and industry practices especially those related to information barriers
- Oversee certain investment team activities through surveillance and periodic testing
- Assist with the preparation and delivery of compliance training and education programs
- Prepare management information reporting
- Provide support and back-up for broader Americas Advisory Compliance related initiatives and centralized compliance functions such as expert networks
- Work on other Compliance related ad-hoc projects as needed
Qualifications:
- 0-3 years of asset management or other securities related compliance, operations, internal audit, consulting, or regulatory experience
- Organized and detail-oriented with strong time management and multi-tasking skills
- Demonstrated ability to think critically, logically, and analytically
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Strong written/oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
- Bachelor’s degree required
