AMRS Litigation & Regulatory Team

We are searching for a highly motivated individual to join the Litigation & Regulatory team within BlackRock’s broader Legal & Compliance function. The Litigation & Regulatory team is responsible for managing investigations and adversarial proceedings involving BlackRock or any of the funds it advises. This includes litigation, arbitration, regulatory investigations, internal reviews, and third-party discovery. You will have a unique opportunity to work across BlackRock business and operational functions. This position will be located in New York.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with internal Litigation & Regulatory team and outside counsel to manage all aspects of ongoing litigation and regulatory matters, including reviewing written advocacy, liaising with internal stakeholders to satisfy discovery obligations, assisting in preparation of oral arguments, dispositions, or testimony, and participating in settlement discussions.
  • Managing internal reviews, including conducting interviews, reviewing relevant documents, and reporting the results of the reviews to internal stakeholders.
  • Advising internal business teams on potential legal and regulatory risk of proposed future activity or business arrangements.
  • Reporting relevant information about ongoing matters to internal or external stakeholders, including various other teams within Legal & Compliance, fund boards, auditors, insurance, and others.

Qualifications

  • A J.D. from a nationally recognized law school and admitted to practice law in New York State.
  • At least five years of litigation or regulatory experience practicing at a major law firm and/or in the legal and compliance department of an asset manager, investment bank, hedge fund or other financial services company.
  • An understanding of the US federal securities laws and regulations affecting asset managers, including the Exchange Act, the Investment Company Act, and Investment Advisers Act.
  • An understanding of the US antitrust laws, with experience in defending companies in antitrust investigations and/or litigation.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including a proven ability to explain complex legal concepts in a clear, simple and commercial manner.
  • Demonstrated initiative and accountability, and the ability to manage complex matters both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Commitment to maintaining a collegial and inclusive working environment  
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and an ability to bring a commercial and solutions-orientated approach to your work.
  • The ability to prioritize numerous demands and simultaneously manage multiple time-sensitive matters in a highly organized manner.


For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$135,000.00 - USD$235,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
