About this role

The Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team is critical to helping senior managers understand the business of investment management at BlackRock. We guide and produce budgets, short and long-range forecasts; build and analyze business metrics and identify cost savings opportunities; deliver economic insight into the relationships between costs and revenues to improve the financial success of the business going forward. We are a valued and critical component of the management function, working at all levels of BlackRock to provide both a broad and deep understanding of the firm’s financial position and opportunities.

Role Description

Within the FP&A group, BlackRock is seeking an Associate to join the Finance Information & Analytics (FI&A) Team in Gurgaon.

The FI&A team operates with a Center of Excellence (CoE) model and is responsible for efficient, thoughtful, and scalable production to meet operational excellence, deliver high-value business insights through front-end visualization tools, application of modelling and analytics to generate new insights at scale, engage with technology partners to accelerate data and process transformation. The group is also responsible for engaging with business partners to advise and offer expertise on the fundamental building blocks of how we manage the firm and report our financials.

As part of the FI&A Team, this role will require working closely with the FP&A team and other finance teams for designing, building, and maintaining dynamic reporting/business analytics to generate insights for the senior leaders at the firm. This is an excellent opportunity for a results-oriented individual to drive transformation efforts for FP&A and Finance globally.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, maintain, and enhance automated reports/dashboards in FP&A/Finance team.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into tech specifications.

  • Collaborate with FPS (Finance Platform Strategies), Aladdin Engineering, and other relevant teams to design the overall solution including data and platform architecture.

  • Responsible for structuring and governance of data utilized for dashboards/dynamic reporting.

  • Lead all aspects of suite of existing data extraction, transformation & load (ETL) processes.

  • Perform testing and troubleshooting to ensure the accuracy and reliability of outputs.

  • Optimize dashboard performance by modifying queries, data extracts, and design as required.

  • Seek efficiencies by using automation tools (scripting, models, and macros) where opportunities for process improvements exist.

  • Support the overall Reporting and Analytics workstream objectives.

  • Be adaptable to a constantly evolving and changing environment.

  • Embrace and drive the BlackRock principles.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • MBA in Finance / B. Tech with proven experience (5-7 years) in building visually appealing dashboards using PowerBI.

  • Experience in process improvement, automation, design, development, deployment of automated reporting.

  • Strong understanding of data architecture and reporting platform architecture requirements.

  • Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases.

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.

  • Experience in tools and systems like Cognos TM1, MS Access, Power Query, MDX, and DAX.

  • Track record of collaborating in a matrixed organization and driving coordination between finance and other stakeholder groups (functional and geographical).

  • Experience in processing large data and deriving meaningful insights.

  • Collaborative, team-oriented, service-oriented, solutions-oriented.

  • Knowledge of FP&A function/processes a plus.

  • Focused, attention to details and high standards for quality, efficiency, and accuracy in their work.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both in written form and verbally.

  • High levels of self-motivation, multi-task and willing to respectfully challenge the status quo.
